    Copied when it can be

    Where the target format can hold the original stream, it is copied across untouched. Where it cannot, it is re-encoded at a high quality setting meant to look the same as the original, though it is no longer a bit-for-bit copy. The picture is never made smaller unless you choose a smaller resolution.
